Steve Vogel discovered his natural talent for art at a very young age. Even in middle school and high school he received numerous awards and accolades for exhibiting such raw talent. Later he furthered his artistic studies at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design. During this time at UWSP he discovered his love for painting in oils. In fact some of his favorite paintings in his personal collection is some of his early student work from his first discovery of oil painting on canvas.
"The beauty of painting with oil on canvas is unlimited expression. You can simply apply this fantastically colorful goo and play around with it. It is forgiving with time… because it doesn’t dry for weeks. You can continually mix colors, add thinner to create very thin washes, use pigment strait out of the tube for dramatic saturated color, and use mediums like linseed oil and build translucent layers that add depth and softness to your subject. Its truly amazing the limitless things you can create."
Professionally he worked as a Marketing Graphic Designer, then later a Marketing Coordinator for various local businesses.
